Unlike surface-applied standard arm closers, the 1250 uses a parallel arm and a shoe that tracks along a rail to control door swing, which keeps the closer body parallel to the door face rather than projecting outward.

This configuration makes the 1250 well-suited for aluminum storefront doors, narrow-stile glass doors, and any application where a projecting standard arm would be a clearance or aesthetic problem. The closer mounts to the door face with the cylinder body concealed behind the arm assembly when viewed from the pull side.

Every 1250 arm carries a suffix that encodes three things: the arm body style, whether it holds the door open, and the shoe type. Standard Arms (3077 and 3049)

• 1250-3077: Standard non-hold-open arm. The door returns closed after every use. Used on entries where free passage is not required.

Extra Duty Arms (EDA): 1250-3077EDA and 1250-3049EDA

• The door makes a grinding or scraping sound at the end of the opening cycle
• The shoe is visibly worn, cracked, or has stripped mounting threads
• The arm assembly moves laterally in the track rather than sliding smoothly

1250-62PA: PA Hold-Open Shoe

The 1250-62PA is the PA series auxiliary shoe, used exclusively with the 1250-3077PA and 1250-3049PA arm assemblies. It incorporates the hold-open function into the shoe mechanism rather than into the arm. The 1250-62PA and 1250-62A are not interchangeable. If you have a PA arm installed, confirm the 62PA shoe is also PA-spec before replacing it with the standard 62A.

Mounting Plates, Spacers, and the Panel Adapter

The 1250-419 panel adapter is required on aluminum storefront doors with narrow bottom rails where the standard closer mounting position does not provide enough clearance between the closer body and the door bottom. Without the panel adapter on these doors, the closer body contacts the bottom rail and the arm geometry is incorrect.

If a 1250 was installed on a narrow-rail storefront without the 1250-419 and the arm is binding or the closer is not functioning correctly, verify that the panel adapter was included in the original installation before replacing other components.

1250-201 Spacer and 1250-61 Blade Stop Spacer

• 1250-201 spacer: A general spacer used to create clearance between the closer and the door or frame face in installations where standard mounting is too close to the surface. Replace when the spacer is damaged or missing.
• 1250-61 blade stop spacer: A thin spacer used at the blade stop position to adjust the door open limit. Used when the door is contacting the frame or an adjacent surface before the arm reaches its natural stop position.
