What the Schlage Inside Hub Does in the ND Series Chassis

The inside hub is Item 24 in the ND Series chassis assembly. It sits on the interior (room) side of the chassis and connects the inside lever assembly to the latch retraction mechanism. When the inside lever is turned, it drives the inside hub. The hub transmits that rotation to the slide (Item 29) and the associated latch retraction components, pulling the latch bolt back from the strike and allowing the door to open.

In standard functions where the inside lever is always free - passage, entrance, storeroom, classroom, and most other ND functions - the 24085037 hub allows the inside lever to rotate freely in both directions and transmit that rotation to the latch mechanism without restriction from a keycam or cylinder on the inside. 24085078 = Inside hub, electrified and RX. For NDE Series and electrified ND Series locks where the inside mechanism includes an electrified motor assembly (N223-062) and associated components.
