The cylinder is not included in this hardware kit. The 101452-1 is the mounting and fastener package that accompanies the trim assembly, not the complete trim itself.

Detex 03WS Trim: Function and Compatible Exit Devices

The 03WS designation in the Detex trim catalog identifies a specific outside trim configuration: key retracts latch, wide stile, with a flat cover escutcheon design for wide stile applications. The function code 03 across all Detex outside trims means the outside trim operates the latch bolt directly via the cylinder- a key inserted from outside retracts the latch, allowing entry. There is no lever or knob. This is the flat pull/cylinder configuration appropriate for doors where outside entry control is required but a lever is not wanted or specified.

The 03WS trim is the wide stile version of this function. Compatible exit device series per the Detex catalog include the Advantex 10 Series Rim (wide stile), Advantex 20 Series Rim (wide stile), Advantex 21 Series Rim (wide stile), Advantex 27 Series (wide stile), and the Value Series V40 wide stile rim device. For narrow stile applications on Advantex 40/50/51 Series and Value Series V50 devices, the correct trim is 03WSN, which uses a different hardware configuration and is not interchangeable with the 03WS kit.

Detex Door Hardware: 03WS Installation Notes for the 101452-1 Kit

The 101452-1 hardware kit contains three screw lengths because the correct screw for the trim-to-backplate connection depends on door thickness. The installation instruction chart specifies which screw to use for each door thickness in the 1-3/4" to 2-1/4" range. Using the wrong length creates either a loose connection or a screw that bottoms out before clamping the trim correctly. Always select from the three provided lengths using the chart in Detex instruction 101257 before fastening.

For door thickness: 1-3/4" and 2" doors use the tailpiece as received. For 2-1/4" doors, swap in the longer tailpiece also included in this kit. Rim cylinders require the tailpiece to be cut to the correct length as shown in the installation instruction before assembly.

One critical installation note from the Detex 03WS instruction: if installing on a 2" narrow stile glass door, do not use the strike locator that ships with the strike kit. The 03WS trim requires a different strike alignment procedure on narrow stile glass doors specifically.

Detex Panic Hardware: Advantex and Value Series Trim Compatibility

Detex engineered both the Advantex and Value Series product families to share the same outside trim mounting architecture. The 03WS hardware kit and trim assembly install identically on Advantex 10/20/21/27 Series rim devices and on V40 Value Series rim devices, using the same backplate hole pattern and the same 1/4-20 machine screw connection. This common trim platform means facilities running both product families can maintain consistent keyed outside trim appearance across doors without stocking separate hardware kits for each series.
