The Detex 01T is the OEM Trim Plate without Outside Key Control (OKC) for the Detex ECL-230X Exit Control Lock, documented in the official Detex ECL-230D Series catalog (PB-ECL.pdf, Effective March 4, 2023). It is a flat exterior plate with no pull handle and no rim cylinder provision. Finish must be specified at time of order. The Critical Distinction Between the 01T Trim Plate and the 01PP Pull Plate

Both the 01T and the 01PP are ECL-230X outside trim options without OKC, meaning neither includes a rim cylinder for keyed outside entry. The difference is the exterior surface each presents to a person approaching from outside.

The 01PP Pull Plate has an integrated pull handle on the exterior. When the door is electronically released by an access control system, a person outside uses the pull handle to open the door. The 01PP is correct for doors where electronic entry is intended and outside personnel need to physically pull the door open after receiving authorization.

The 01T Trim Plate has no pull handle. The exterior surface is completely flat. There is no hardware of any kind for a person outside to interact with. This is the correct trim for a true exit-only door where no outside entry is intended under any operational scenario, including electronically authorized entry. The door is designed exclusively for exit. Nobody pulls it open from outside because there is nothing to pull.

This distinction matters for both security and code compliance. Providing a pull handle on a door that should have no outside entry capability creates an unintended affordance that can encourage unauthorized entry attempts. The 01T flat plate communicates clearly that the door is not an entry point.

Detex 01T in the ECL-230X Trim Family

The official Detex ECL-230D catalog lists four outside trim configurations for the ECL-230X device, each addressing a different combination of pull handle and outside key access requirements.

01T (this product): Trim Plate without OKC. Flat plate, no pull handle, no cylinder. For true exit-only doors.

03T: Trim Plate with OKC. Flat plate with a rim cylinder for keyed outside entry. A key retracts the deadbolt and disarms the alarm simultaneously. No pull handle is included with the 03T trim configuration alone.

01PP: Pull Plate without OKC. Exterior pull handle with no cylinder. For doors with electronic entry where a pull handle is needed but keyed access is not.

03PP: Pull Plate with OKC. Full outside capability including both a pull handle and a rim cylinder. Provides both electronic and mechanical key outside entry options.

The 01T is specified when outside entry of any kind is not part of the door design. The 03T is specified when keyed outside entry is needed but a pull handle is not required or is provided separately. The choice between trim plate and pull plate is independent of the OKC decision.

ECL-230X Device Context and Door Preparation Coverage

The Detex ECL-230 series has been the industry standard alarmed exit control lock for more than 30 years. The ECL-230X device installs on the interior face of the door (egress side) where the pushbar is operated from inside. The deadbolt is a 1 inch throw, saw-resistant bolt that extends into the door frame strike when the door is locked. The 100 decibel alarm sounds when someone attempts to exit, and the alarm is powered by an included 9 volt battery. The device is cULus listed, ANSI/BHMA certified, CA Title 19 compliant, and meets NFPA 101 for Life Safety.

The 01T covers the exterior face of the door at the ECL-230X mounting location. Door thickness compatibility is 1-3/4 inch to 2-1/4 inch, consistent with the ECL-230X device specifications.
