The Detex 01PP is the OEM Pull Plate without Outside Key Control (OKC) for the ECL-230X Exit Control Lock series, documented in the official Detex ECL-230D Series catalog (PB-ECL.pdf, Effective March 4, 2023). The 01PP is one of four ECL-230X outside trim options in the official Detex catalog. Understanding which trim option is correct requires confirming two decisions: whether a pull handle is needed on the outside, and whether keyed outside entry is required. The 01PP answers both: yes to pull handle, no to keyed entry.

01PP vs the Full ECL-230X Trim Family

The Detex ECL-230X catalog lists four outside trim configurations for the ECL-230X device. Each serves a distinct outside access scenario.

01T: Trim Plate without OKC. A flat plate covering the outside with no pull handle and no cylinder. The exterior has no hardware for pulling the door open. Used when the door is configured for true exit-only operation with no intended outside entry under any circumstance.

03T: Trim Plate with OKC. A flat plate with an outside cylinder for keyed entry. The exterior has a cylinder but no pull handle. A key retracts the deadbolt and disarms the alarm, but there is no handle to pull the door open. Typically used with a separate pull accessory.

01PP (this product): Pull Plate without OKC. An exterior pull plate with an integrated pull handle and no cylinder. Outside personnel can pull the door open after electronic release but cannot enter using a key. All outside entry is handled electronically.

03PP: Pull Plate with OKC. An exterior pull plate with both a pull handle and an outside cylinder. Provides both electronic entry via access control and mechanical key entry via the cylinder. The most complete outside trim option.

The 01PP is the correct choice when the facility uses electronic access control for all outside entry and no mechanical key backup is required or desired on that door. This aligns with full electronic access control policies where keys are not part of the door's security protocol.

What the ECL-230X Is and Why the Outside Trim Matters

The Detex ECL-230 series has been the industry standard alarmed exit control lock for more than 30 years, per the official Detex product documentation. The ECL-230X device is a code-compliant, battery-powered alarmed deadbolt panic device with a steel plate and photo-luminescent sign providing managed security. The device features a 100 decibel alarm, an attack-resistant design that withstands over 2200 lbs of outside pull force, and a 1 inch throw saw-resistant deadbolt. The 9 volt battery powers the alarm and is included with the device. The system is cULus listed, ANSI/BHMA certified, CA Title 19 compliant, and meets NFPA 101 for Life Safety.

The ECL-230X device body installs on the interior (egress) side of the door. The outside trim, whether 01PP or another configuration, covers the exterior face of the door at the device location. Without outside trim, the through-bolts and device mounting hardware are exposed on the exterior, which is both an aesthetic and security concern. The 01PP outside trim covers this exposure and provides the pull handle that allows authorized personnel to open the door from outside after electronic release.

Detex 01PP: Accessories and Ordering Options

The official ECL-230X ordering guide confirms several accessories available with the 01PP configuration. The SN1 Sex Nut Kit provides the through-bolt fasteners for securing the outside trim to the door. Hinge bolt options include DX1 (single), DX2 (double), and DX3 (triple) hinge bolts that reinforce the hinge-side of the door against forced entry attacks. Signage options are available in English (standard), Spanish (RWS), and Chinese (RWC) in red and white. A hurricane rating option is also available for coastal or high-wind installations.

Rim cylinder options for installations that later require OKC can be specified when upgrading to the 03PP: IC7R (SFIC housing), IK7R (InstaKey housing), and RC65 (6-pin keyed). The 01PP as ordered does not include any cylinder provision. Door thickness compatibility is 1-3/4 inch to 2-1/4 inch, consistent with the ECL-230X device body specifications.
