Von Duprin 88 Series Models and Configurations

The Von Duprin 88 Series spans four mounting configurations, each with a standard and fire-rated version:

The 88 Rim mounts surface-applied on the inside door face. It fits all types of single and double doors with mullion, covers stock hollow metal doors with 86 or 161 cutouts, and is field reversible. The fire-rated 88-F version is UL listed for 3-hour fire exit hardware and is handed.

The 8827 Surface Vertical Rod (SVR) routes vertical rods to top and bottom latches for double door applications. It covers stock hollow metal doors with 86 cutouts, fits door stiles as narrow as 2-1/2 inches (90mm), and ships field sizeable. The 8827-F fire-rated version fits door stiles as narrow as 3-3/4 inches (95mm).

The 8847-F Concealed Vertical Rod (CVR) is the fire-rated concealed rod option for double metal doors, UL listed for 3 hours and fits door stiles as narrow as 4-3/4 inches (121mm).

The 8875 Mortise uses the 7500 mortise lock body, fits door stiles as narrow as 4-3/4 inches (121mm), and is field reversible without removing the lock from the door. The 7500 lock is equipped with a 3/4 inch anti-friction latch bolt and non-handed auxiliary bolt for deadlocking. The 8875-F fire-rated version is UL listed for 3 hours.

Von Duprin 88 Series Technical Specifications

The 88 rim device ships standard with a 42-inch crossbar (1067mm) that is field sizeable. Crossbar tubing is 1 inch (25mm) diameter. Crossbar height to finished floor is 36-13/16 inches (935mm) at center. Crossbar projection is 4-3/4 inches (121mm) at neutral and 4 inches (102mm) when depressed. The lock stile case measures 8-1/4 x 2-3/4 x 15/16 inches (210mm x 70mm x 24mm). Hinge stile case measures 6 x 1-3/4 x 15/16 inches (152mm x 44mm x 24mm). The cylinder backset is 2-3/4 inches (70mm). Latch bolt throw is 3/4 inch (19mm) on the rim device.

Standard hex key dogging uses a 5/32-inch hex key. Fire-rated versions do not include dogging. The device ships standard with a 299 strike in dull black finish with all mounting fasteners included. Available finishes include US3, US4, US10, US26, US26D, US28, 313, 315, and 643E.

Von Duprin 88 Trim and Lever Trim Options

The 88 Series pairs with 880 outside trim in DT, K, NL, and TP functions, as well as 373 Series controls and 606, 608, and 609 trim models. The 880 trim plate measures 3 inches wide by 14-3/16 inches long. Lever trim uses the 373L and requires a 1-1/4 inch mortise cylinder with straight cam, sold separately. The knurled crossbar (KN) option provides a tactile warning on doors leading to stairwells, loading docks, or hazardous areas. The RX request-to-exit switch option integrates the device with access control systems by sending a signal when the crossbar is depressed.
