The L0172 is the Schlage L Series full dummy trim - a lever handle set that provides the appearance of a functioning mortise lock without any latch or locking mechanism. Dummy trims are used on the inactive leaf of a door pair, on doors held open by magnetic hold-opens, or for architectural symmetry on non-functional door panels.

The L283-064 spindle in a dummy trim installation provides return force for the lever so it springs back to horizontal after being pressed. Without the spring, the dummy lever would stay in whatever position it was last moved to, creating an asymmetric appearance and a lever that doesn't return.

The L9091, L9093, and L9095 are electrified L Series functions:

L9091 = EL/EU (Electrically Locking/Electrically Unlocking) both levers, no cylinder. In the EL state, the motor engages a blocker against the spindle to prevent lever rotation.
