The Von Duprin 958005 is the OEM QEL Modular Conversion Kit for the Von Duprin Impact 94 and 95 Series exit devices, covering both 36-inch and 48-inch device applications, documented in the Von Duprin 94/9547 Parts Manual and the 94/9575 Parts Manual. The 958005 adds Quiet Electric Latch Retraction (QEL) motorized functionality to a mechanical 94 or 95 Series device that was not previously equipped with electric latch retraction. In stock.
Three items are not included and must be sourced separately: the Von Duprin power supply, the power transfer from door to frame (such as an electric power transfer hinge), and the control operator (card reader, access control panel, or other credential device). The 958005 provides only the QEL motor assembly, conversion hardware, and associated components.
What the Von Duprin 958005 Conversion Kit Does
The 958005 converts a mechanical 94 or 95 Series exit device to motorized electric latch retraction. Before conversion, authorized entry requires a key in the outside trim cylinder to retract the latch. After installing the 958005, an electric signal from the connected access control system drives the QEL motor to retract the latch bolt, allowing entry without a key when a valid credential is presented.
The conversion is recommended specifically when upgrading from the older solenoid-driven EL (Electric Latch) format on 94/95 Series devices, per DKHardware's official product documentation. The motor-driven QEL is quieter, more energy efficient, and more reliable over long service life than the solenoid EL format it replaces.
Five key features confirmed from the official Von Duprin product documentation:
2A standard power supply compatibility: The 958005 is designed for standard 2-amp Von Duprin power supplies, enabling longer wiring runs from the power source to the device without voltage drop issues.
Quiet operation in both mechanical and electronic states: The motor mechanism operates below audible thresholds that solenoids cannot match. Both the normal latch retraction cycle and the electronic dogging engagement are quieter than EL solenoid equivalents.
Pushbar pulled in electronically when dogged: When the device is dogged (pushbar held in depressed position), the motor engages to pull the pushbar to the dogged position rather than requiring manual hex key engagement. This is a key user experience improvement over manual hex dogging on mechanical devices.
On-board diagnostics: The 958005 QEL module includes installation and troubleshooting diagnostics built into the motor assembly. LED indicators allow technicians to diagnose power, signal, and mechanical conditions during installation and service without additional test equipment.
Auto-adjust latch retraction: The motor assembly automatically calibrates latch throw and pull distance during initial commissioning, eliminating manual adjustment of latch engagement depth.
Von Duprin 958005: 94/95 Series Device Coverage
The 94 is Von Duprin's Impact Series exit device (heavy-duty, abuse-resistant design). The 95 Series refers to the vertical rod and mortise variants within the Impact line (9547 = CVR, 9575 = Mortise). The 958005 covers 94 Rim and both 95 Series variants, in 36-inch (3-foot) and 48-inch (4-foot) configurations, from one part number.
The companion conversion kits in the Von Duprin QEL catalog for other device series are:
958003-00 = QEL Modular Conversion Kit for 33A/35A/98/99 Series, 3-foot devices.
040061 = QEL Modular Conversion Kit for 33A/35A/98/99 Series (the current generation modular version).
958002 = HD-QEL Modular Conversion Kit with hex dogging, panic-only applications.
These kits are NOT interchangeable across device series. The 958005 is only for the 94/95 Impact Series. Ordering a 98/99 Series QEL kit for a 94/95 installation will result in a non-fitting, non-functional conversion.
