The Von Duprin 47448783 is the OEM double cylinder module service kit for 2SI configured exit devices. It provides the replacement module assembly needed to service or rebuild the -2SI mechanism on an installed 98/99 Series device without pulling the entire unit off the door. The module includes the slider assembly, endplate, and the security indicator mechanism that sits on the inside face of the device. Finish must be specified at time of order because the indicator components are externally visible and need to match the installed device's finish.

Cylinder is not included in this service kit and must be sourced separately.

What the Von Duprin 2SI Double Cylinder Module Does

The -2SI is Von Duprin's double cylinder with security indicator option for the 98/99 Series. It adds two things to the standard exit device at once. First, it installs an interior key cylinder on the push side of the device, so the inside push bar can only retract the latch when the inside cylinder is in the unlocked position. Second, it adds a visible security indicator that shows the lock status from inside the room without anyone having to physically test the hardware.

The indicator uses a 1/2-inch by 1/2-inch metal flag at the top of the device head. When the flag is visible, the device is unlocked and the push bar will retract the latch freely. When no flag is present, the device is locked and the inside cylinder must be turned to allow egress. This at-a-glance visual is the defining advantage of the 2SI over a standard -2 double cylinder, which provides inside keyed control without any indicator.

Schools and hospitals are the two most common environments where 2SI gets specified. A teacher using the -2SI can lock the push bar from inside the classroom during a lockdown and see the indicator confirm the door is secured, all without opening the door or stepping into the hallway. Security staff touring the building can verify room status from the hallway-facing indicator without disrupting occupants.

This module service kit is confirmed compatible with nine 98/99 Series device configurations across all mounting types. For rim installations it covers the 98/99-2 double cylinder configuration. For surface vertical rod it covers the 98/9927-2 and fire-rated 98/9927-F-2. For concealed vertical rod it covers the 98/9947-2 and fire-rated 98/9947-F-2. For mortise applications it covers the 98/9975-2 and fire-rated 98/9975-F-2. For concealed vertical cable it covers the 98/9949-2 and fire-rated 98/9949-F-2.

The -2SI is NOT available for XP98/99 devices, 98/9952, or 98/9950WDC configurations. The 2SI option is also not compatible with dogging features including CDSI or HDSI, because the device could be dogged (latch retracted) while the indicator reports a locked state.

Von Duprin 2SI Conversion Kit vs Module Service Kit

The 2SI conversion kit is the full retrofit package for converting an existing standard 98/99 device to 2SI function in the field. The 47448783 module service kit is the component-level part for servicing or replacing the 2SI module on a device already configured with the 2SI option. The service kit retrofit procedure involves removing the device and trim from the door, tilting the slider assembly out, discarding the old slider assembly and endplate, installing the replacement slider assembly and endplate from the service kit, then reinstalling mounting screws. On mortise applications, a biasing plate installation and additional door modification step are also required.
