The Schlage 35-272 is the OEM Everest 29 full-size 6-pin key blank with "Do Not Duplicate" designation in an unembossed (flat) bow, sold in boxes of 50. It's the T-family restricted keyway version, available on this page in seven keyway options: T123, T124, T125, T134, T135, T145, and T150. The keyway must be specified at time of order.

These are the blanks a facility manager or authorized commercial locksmith cuts against to produce working change keys for Schlage cylindrical or mortise locks running Everest 29 T-series cylinders. The flat bow face and the restricted T keyway designation make the 35-272 a specific specification item, not a general-purpose blank, and understanding both the "unembossed" and the "T keyway" designations is what separates the right order from the wrong one.

What "Unembossed" Means on a Schlage Key Blank

Schlage produces its Everest 29 key blanks in two bow styles. The standard DND bow (part 35-268) has "DO NOT DUPLICATE" physically raised and embossed on the key head in relief. The 35-272 is the unembossed version — the flat bow face still carries the DND designation on the key, but the text sits flush rather than raised.

That distinction matters in practice. The Schlage key systems catalog specifically calls out unembossed blanks for any application where additional information needs to be stamped on the key bow after cutting — serial numbers, room numbers, department codes, or custom die stamps. A raised embossed surface doesn't accept secondary die stamps cleanly; the flat bow of the 35-272 does. High-volume institutional key systems in hospitals, universities, and government buildings where each key carries a unique stamp or identifier are the primary use case. The unembossed bow also works for facilities that run T-series blanks and simply prefer the cleaner look of a flat head without raised text.

Schlage Key Blank Chart: T Keyway Restricted Sections

All seven keyways on the 35-272 are T-family restricted sections. The T keyway family is the Everest 29 restricted equivalent of the Everest D family, and both are backwards compatible — an Everest 29 T-family key will operate legacy Everest D-family cylinders of the same keyway profile, though Everest keys will not enter Everest 29 cylinders.

T keyways require authorization to order. Unlike the open S keyway family that any authorized commercial locksmith can stock, T-family blanks are drop-shipped directly to the authorized end user or a location specifically authorized by the end user. That authorization process is what creates the key control: T-family blanks cannot be duplicated at a hardware counter or general key shop, and the Everest 29 undercut design (protected under U.S. utility patent 7,665,337 through 2029) creates legal deterrence against unauthorized copying.

The seven T keyways on this page follow the same numeric hierarchy as the S keyways. T123 is the standard operating keyway in the T family. T145 is the default for T-family master key systems. T124, T125, T134, T135, and T150 are the additional section keyways that define the levels and sub-levels of a master key hierarchy — the numeric designations in each keyway correspond to the operating and multi-section key relationships within a system.

Schlage 35-272 Part Number System for T Keyway Blanks

In Schlage's key numbering system, the 35 prefix means uncut blank. The 272 designates the unembossed DND full-size Everest 29 bow. When the 35 prefix changes to 48, you're ordering a cut change key (48-272 T). When it changes to 49, you're ordering a cut master key (49-272 T). Key blanks are packed 50 per box and 1,000 per case.

The T-family counterpart to the 35-272 on the S side is 35-272 S, which shares the same flat bow but runs the open S keyways instead of restricted T keyways. If your lock system runs T keyways, confirm the full keyway designation before ordering.
