The Schlage 24085060 is the OEM inside hub for the Schlage ND Series cylindrical lock, specifically for the ND66 and ND82 function group. It replaces the previous part number N523-016 - any order history showing N523-016 should now be placed as 24085060. In stock.
The inside hub is the internal chassis component that connects the inside lever assembly to the latch retraction mechanism. On standard entry and passage functions, the inside lever is always free - turning it always retracts the latch. The ND66 and ND82 functions have different inside lever behavior, and the inside hub geometry in the 24085060 is specifically matched to those behavioral requirements. Substituting a standard inside hub from a different function group into an ND66 or ND82 chassis will result in incorrect lock behavior.
Schlage ND Series Functions That Use the 24085060
The inside hub covers seven function variants documented in the Schlage ND Series Service Manual, all in the Chassis Assembly position:
ND66 Store Lock - This is Schlage's store function, similar in concept to storeroom but with specific behavioral differences. The outside lever is always locked; key from outside is required to retract the latch at all times. The inside lever retracts the latch freely for egress. Retail environments, secure storage, and controlled access points where key control from the corridor is always required use this function.
ND82 Institution Lock - The most security-restrictive function in the standard ND Series catalog. The outside lever is always locked. The inside lever is also controlled - it requires an inside cylinder or coin release rather than free lever operation. Both inside and outside access are key-controlled or coin-controlled. Used in correctional facilities, behavioral health locked units, and any institutional application where occupants should not be able to leave without staff authorization.
ND72 Communicating Lock and ND72 Vandlgard Communicating - The communicating function allows two adjoining rooms to be controlled from either side. The ND72 Vandlgard version adds the breakaway lever that protects internal components from excessive torque.
ND25x70 Classroom Exit Lock and ND25x80 Storeroom Exit Lock - Combination functions that integrate panic exit behavior with classroom or storeroom access control.
ND70x80 Classroom by Storeroom - A dual-function chassis that covers both classroom and storeroom behavioral requirements.
All seven share the 24085060 inside hub because they belong to the same inside-lever behavioral group within the ND Series chassis architecture.
Schlage Lock Parts: Inside Hub vs Outside Hub
The ND Series chassis uses two hubs - inside and outside. The outside hub connects the outside lever or cylinder cam to the latch retraction mechanism from the corridor side. The inside hub connects the inside lever to the same mechanism from the room side. Different function groups use different hub geometries because the inside lever's relationship to the chassis mechanism varies by function.
The ND66/82 group uses the 24085060 inside hub. Standard entrance and office functions (ND50, ND53, ND80, etc.) use different inside hub configurations. If the function installed is not in the ND66/82 group listed above, this is not the correct hub. Check the function code stamped on the inside trim or on the original project specification before ordering.
