Detex 106900-11 Pushpad Assembly 36 Inch

For use with Value Series EE Series

The Detex 106900-11 is the OEM 36-inch pushpad assembly for the Detex Value Series V40 EE Delayed Egress  exit device. It is the push bar mechanism that the user contacts when attempting to exit an EE-equipped door - and on a delayed egress device, that bar does considerably more than a standard exit device pushpad. The 106900-11 includes the integrated 2-pin pushpad switch connector at the latch end, which interfaces with the EE main board and triggers the alarm circuit on pushpad contact. When this assembly fails or is damaged, the EE device loses the correct pushpad function and may fail to trigger the alarm sequence or hold the delay correctly.

The 36-inch designation covers 3-foot device configurations for door openings up to 3 feet wide. The pushpad assembly (106900-11) is the internal mechanism; the pushpad wrap (101810-1 for 3-foot devices) is the cosmetic grip cover that mounts over the assembly and is a separate component.

How the Detex EE Pushpad Assembly Works in the Delayed Egress Sequence

On a standard exit device, depressing the pushpad immediately retracts the latch bolt and the door opens. The EE delayed egress device works differently by design - and the pushpad assembly is the component where that difference is physically executed.

When the EE pushpad is depressed, the integrated pushpad switch at the latch end sends a signal to the EE main control board. The board activates the 100dB alarm immediately and begins the 15-second irreversible delay countdown. During the delay, the pushpad is held in the depressed position and the door stays locked - the delay cannot be stopped once started. The alarm cycles on and off every second for 15 seconds. After the full 15-second delay, the alarm changes to short and long pulses to indicate that egress is now available, and the pushpad releases, allowing the user to push through.

There is one nuance worth knowing for maintenance testing: if the pushpad is depressed for less than one second, the alarm emits a single pulse but the delay sequence does not start. Full depression beyond one second is what triggers the full alarm and delay cycle.

On battery-only power (when 24VDC main power is unavailable), the EE device bypasses the delay entirely and egress is immediate. The 9V battery backup powers the alarm siren only, not the delay mechanism - so the fail-safe condition on a power failure is always immediate egress.

Detex Value Series EE: V40 Rim vs V50/V51 SVR Pushpad Compatibility

The 106900-11 is specifically for the Value Series V40 EE - the rim exit device configuration. The V50/V51 EE (surface vertical rod configuration) uses a different centercase/pushpad subassembly. The part number families for the two configurations are documented separately in the Detex Value Series EE catalog (document 103185). Ordering the V40 pushpad for a V50/V51 installation is one of the most common parts mismatch errors on EE devices, because the device lengths and rim vs SVR configurations look similar from the outside.

Confirm the installed device is the V40 (rim) EE before ordering the 106900-11.

Detex Pushpad Assembly: EE-Specific Parts in the V40 Assembly Diagram

The complete V40 EE pushpad region in the Detex parts breakdown includes four distinct components. The 106900-11 is the pushpad assembly itself (this product). The 101810-1 is the pushpad wrap for 3-foot devices - the exterior grip surface that mounts over the assembly. The 101844 is the endcap bracket that caps the device assembly at the pushpad end. The 90-800 power supply provides the required 24VDC to the EE main board, and the device also requires a connection to the building fire alarm system - fire alarm activation bypasses the delay and releases the door immediately, a code requirement confirmed in the Detex EE installation document.
