The Detex 102661-64 is the OEM circuit board kit for the Detex EAX-2500 Series wall-mount exit alarm. Item 8 in the EAX-2500 parts breakdown per Detex installation instruction 101322, the circuit board is the microprocessor-based control board that manages every operating function of the EAX-2500 alarm - arming and disarming logic, LED status indication, remote bypass input, call bell input, alarm relay output, low battery detection, auto rearm timing, and the selector switch positions for all field-selectable features. When the circuit board fails, the alarm unit fails with it. The 102661-64 kit replaces the board in the field without replacing the complete EAX-2500 housing, backbox, cam assembly, or magnetic switch infrastructure already installed on the door.
This board is specific to the EAX-2500 Series. It is not compatible with the EAX-500 door-mounted exit alarm or any other Detex exit alarm series. The EAX-2500 uses a different housing format and a different board architecture than the EAX-500. Confirm EAX-2500 is the installed model before ordering.
Detex EAX-2500 Exit Alarm: What the Circuit Board Controls
The EAX-2500 is Detex's wall-mounted, remotely located exit alarm for secure doors. Unlike door-mounted exit alarms that integrate directly into the panic bar or exit device, the EAX-2500 mounts on a wall or inside a standard 4"x4" double switch/outlet box up to 150 feet from the monitored door. It monitors door position via an external magnetic switch (MS-2049S for surface mount, MS-2049F for flush mount). The magnetic switch sends a contact signal to the EAX-2500 control board when the door opens. The board interprets that signal and triggers the approximately 100dB piezo horn alarm when the device is armed and the door is opened without authorization.
The circuit board manages all of this through microprocessor-based logic. The board interprets the mortise cylinder cam position for arming and disarming. CCW rotation to 8 o'clock arms the device. CW rotation to 2 o'clock disarms it. The board reads the current cam state and controls the LED status indicator accordingly - red LED indicates armed, green indicates disarmed. LED status indication is field selectable on the board via shunt switches.
Detex Circuit Board Kit: Field-Selectable Features
The 102661-64 circuit board carries the shunt switch positions for all EAX-2500 field-selectable features. Three key selections are made on the board before installation:
Status Indicator (default OFF): When enabled, the LED blinks every 3 seconds to show armed or disarmed status at a glance. When disabled, no visual status is shown.
Auto Rearm (default OFF): When enabled, the EAX-2500 automatically rearms 2 minutes after the alarmed door is re-secured. When disabled, the unit requires a key reset after any alarm event.
Disable Low Battery (default OFF): When disabled (default), the unit chirps every 45 seconds when the 9V battery is low. When enabled, low battery warning is suppressed - appropriate for installations running continuous AC/DC external power where battery backup is not the primary source.
These selections are made via slide selector switches or shunts on the board. The installation instruction specifies that selector switches must be set before the battery is installed.
Detex Alarm Parts: EAX-2500 Terminal and Integration Functions
The circuit board provides three terminal block connection groups. Terminals 3 and 4 are the remote bypass input - a dry-contact momentary switch wired here closes the contact and disarms the alarm temporarily for authorized door access, then the alarm rearms automatically when the door closes. Terminals 7 and 8 are the call bell input - wiring a momentary switch here activates the alarm horn for 3 seconds, functioning as a doorbell to alert personnel near the EAX-2500. Terminals 10, 11, and 12 are the alarm relay output - when the alarm sounds, the relay triggers, providing a dry contact that can be wired to a building management system, access control panel, or remote monitoring device.
The circuit board also manages tamper detection. If the EAX-2500 cover is removed while the unit is armed, the tamper switch under one of the four mounting screws activates and the alarm sounds.
