Sparta Tactile Profile in the Falcon 7-Pin KIL Format

Per the SecurityParts.com FAQ: "It is a genuine OEM Sparta tactile exterior lever prepared for a 7-pin Falcon Key-in-Lever cylinder and supplied less cylinder." The FAQ also confirms: "A compatible Falcon Key-in-Lever (KIL), LD FA7 (7-pin) cylinder is required and sold separately." The 03-280-8SP uses the Sparta lever profile with a tactile surface for hazardous area door identification at outside trim positions where the Falcon FA7 cylinder requirement and the tactile designation are both specified.

The 03-280-8SP and the 03-280-8RO (Rhodes Tactile Lever, KIL 7-Pin Less Cylinder) are both tactile levers in the 03-280 Falcon 7-pin KIL format. Both are available at the same price, both supply less cylinder, and both are documented in two Service Manuals covering AD and CO Series only. The only difference is the lever profile. The 03-280-8SP uses the Sparta design and the 03-280-8RO uses the Rhodes design. When a building uses Sparta levers as its established standard and the installed cylinder is a Falcon FA7 7-pin KIL with a tactile designation required, the 03-280-8SP is the correct lever.

AD and CO Series Compatibility

The formal compatibility section on the SecurityParts.com product page lists AD Series and CO Series only. These are Schlage's electronic access control cylindrical lock platforms. Per the SecurityParts.com product page primary function: "Accommodates Falcon 7-Pin Key-in-Lever (KIL) cylinder insertion and provides manual latch retraction." The 03-280 Falcon 7-pin KIL format is distinct from standard Schlage KIL prep (03-231), Corbin Russwin KIL prep (03-234), and Sargent KIL prep (03-244). Confirm the installed lock series and cylinder type before ordering.
