The Detex 01C/CN/CNV is the OEM Exit Only Cover Plate for the Detex Advantex exit alarm device series, documented in the official Detex Narrow Pull and Plate Trim Catalog and Wide Pull and Plate Trim Catalog, and in Detex Installation Instructions (doc 101285). Three variants are available, each specific to a different Detex device body configuration. Device type and finish must be specified at time of order. Available (3-4 weeks).

The three variants are as follows. The 01C uses the Wide backplate (BP-1 or BP-11) and is for use with the 10, 20, 21, and 27 Series Detex devices. The 01CN uses the Narrow backplate (BP-2) and is for use with the 40, 50, and 51 Series devices. The 01CNV uses the Narrow CVR backplate (BP-10) and is for use with the 60, 61, 62, and 63 Series devices. Ordering the wrong variant for the installed device series will result in a backplate that does not align with the device mounting holes on the door.

What the Detex 01 Exit Only Function Means

Detex uses BHMA (Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association) function designations for all outside trim, as confirmed in the official Detex trim documentation. The 01 function is defined as Exit Only with a cover plate and no outside hardware. The outside face of the door presents a blank plate with no pull handle, no cylinder, and no mechanical or electronic entry capability. A person approaching the door from the outside cannot open it because there is no hardware to operate.

This configuration is appropriate for doors where one-way traffic is the design intent. Personnel exit through the device from the inside by pressing the pushbar. Nobody enters through this door from the outside. The 01 cover plate communicates this clearly to anyone approaching from the outside: the door has no entry hardware because entry is not permitted at this location.

Within the Detex trim function range, the 01 is the simplest outside trim option. The 02 function adds a dummy pull handle on the outside for directional guidance without entry capability. The 03 function adds a key cylinder for keyed outside entry. The 01 cover plate eliminates all of these, leaving only the blank face plate on the exterior.

Detex 01C/CN/CNV: Function Change Without Device Removal

Per the official Detex trim documentation: "The versatile design of the trims, combined with the device mounting plate, makes changing functions as simple as replacing the outside trim. This can easily be done without removing the exit device from the door." This is a critical serviceability feature of the Detex Advantex trim system.

If an installed Detex device is currently fitted with an 02 (dummy pull) or 03 (key retracts latch) outside trim and the facility needs to convert that door to Exit Only, the outside trim is replaced with the 01C, 01CN, or 01CNV cover plate without disturbing the device mounting on the door or door frame. No hole plugging, no door refinishing, and no full device reinstallation is required. The trim change alone accomplishes the function change.

Detex Cover Plate Compatibility and Backplate System

The Detex Advantex outside trim system uses backplates that interface between the trim and the door face. Each backplate designation identifies the physical profile matching a specific device body width and type. The 01C attaches to Wide backplate BP-1 or BP-11, which are the standard wide-body profiles of the 10 and 20 Series rim and surface vertical rod devices. The 01CN attaches to Narrow backplate BP-2 for the 40 and 50 Series narrow-body devices. The 01CNV attaches to Narrow CVR backplate BP-10 specifically for the 60 Series concealed vertical rod devices used on the 62 and 63 Series narrow stile configurations.

Door thickness coverage from the official Detex installation instructions is 1-3/4 inch through 2-1/4 inch. Finishes available include 630 Satin Stainless (standard), 693, 695, 606, 612, 605, 611, 613, and 629. An antimicrobial finish option is also available per the current Detex Price List.
