The Von Duprin 010055 is the OEM Blade Stop Shim for the Von Duprin 6111 and 6113 electric strikes, documented in the official Von Duprin 6100 Series Data Sheet (doc 105282). Per the Allegion Knowledge Base: "010055-xx is the part number for the Blade Stop Shim kit for 6111 or 6113 electric strike and it must be ordered separately. xx is for the finish callout." The 010055 provides 1/2 inch (13mm) of additional projection. Material is aluminum. This part is not for fire door application. Available (3-4 weeks) with finish specified at time of order.
What the Von Duprin 010055 Blade Stop Shim Does
The Von Duprin 6111 and 6113 are surface-applied electric strikes designed to accept the rim latch of a rim exit device. They mount on the door frame face and capture the 3/4 inch throw pullman latch bolt when the door closes. The standard strike body is dimensioned for mounting on a conventional frame with a standard door stop that provides adequate standoff from the wall face.
A cased opening is a door opening finished with trim casing only, with no door stop projecting inward from the frame. A blade stop frame has a very shallow or flush stop profile that does not provide the normal standoff clearance the 6111/6113 standard body requires. In both conditions, the strike body sits too close to the wall face, misaligning the keeper blade with the latch bolt path. The 010055 blade stop shim fills this gap with 1/2 inch (13mm) of aluminum projection, moving the strike body outward from the frame to restore correct alignment between the keeper and the rim latch bolt.
The Von Duprin 6100 Series Data Sheet lists the 010055 as a specific application note for the 6111 and 6113: "1/2 inch projection blade stop shim 010055-XX available for use on cased opening or blade stop frames." A separate application note in the same data sheet specifies: "specify when using 55 rim devices," meaning the 010055 is required when the 55 Series rim exit device is the installed device. The 55 Series pullman latch geometry requires the additional 1/2 inch projection for correct engagement with the 6111/6113 keeper blade.
Von Duprin 010055: Non-Fire Rated Application Requirement
The official Von Duprin 6100 Series catalog states the 010055 blade stop shim is "not for fire door application." The 6111 and 6113 electric strikes carry UL 10C 3-hour fire-rated listings in fail secure configurations and UL 1034 burglary-resistant listings. However, adding the aluminum 010055 shim changes the mounting geometry of the strike in a way that falls outside the tested configuration for fire door rating. Any door assembly using the 010055 must be a non-fire-rated opening.
The 010055 may also be used with vertical rod exit devices that use a Pullman latch in a less bottom rod (LBR) configuration, also limited to non-fire-rated applications per the official data sheet.
